Karan Johar still worried about ‘MNIK' release

BIGOYE News Network - Feb 09, 2010 - 14:35hrs IST

The rift between Shiv Sena and Shah Rukh Khan might be over, but the trouble still cloud over the release of ‘My Name is Khan,’ scheduled for release on Friday.

Karan Johar, the director of the film, who has kept mum over the issue, has finally come out in open to look after the release of ‘MNIK.’ Karan, accompanied by the representatives of Fox Searchlight has met the Mumbai Police Commissioner on Tuesday morning to discuss his concern that cinemas are not selling tickets for the film yet.

The Mumbai police have assured that the cinema halls will be provided the security during the release of ‘My Name Is Khan,’ informed Karan.

"Sixty three cinemas in Mumbai will show ‘My Name is Khan.’ Security will be provided to all cinemas. Frisking and checking will be done for everyone entering the film's screenings. I don't want to give details of police deployment or strategy in the regard," said Joint Commissioner of Police Himanshu Roy.

Shiv Sena has reportedly not cleared its stand. Uddhav Thackeray had said that while he has not ordered the Sena to disrupt screenings of ‘My Name Is Khan,’ he cannot stop party workers from "taking any spontaneous action.”
