I call him Shahrukh and he is like this young-at-heart buddy.: Anushka Sharma
In a freewheeling chat with Ekta Sharma Bhatnagar from BIGOYE, Anushka Sharma, confesses that starring opposite Shahrukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is not a dream come true as she never planned to be an actress. The 20-year old delicate damsel talks about her first day at shoot, her favourite actors, hobbies and her future plans…
How did Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi landed in your kitty? What was going in your mind when you signed the film. I am into modeling since I was 15. Adi (Aditya Chopra) spotted my pictures on internet and offered me RNBDJ. I couldn’t believe my luck. I could never imagine that I will get such a great opportunity without much effort. I think I must have some good deeds in past and this is the reward for it – to get to work with the Baadshah of Bollywood and king of romance! At the same time, I was conscience of the fact that it is a big film and I cannot afford to be slapdash. I felt I am equally responsible to make the film work.
At any point of time while shooting, did you think acting is not your cup of tea? Never. When I started shooting I though acting and me are made for each other.
You were not allowed to interact with media before the film released. Do you think pre-release publicity would have helped you? Not
"I don't have a success plan chalked-out."
really. What would have I talked about the movie before release I actually knew details of my character and film? I think not having to interact with media helped me a lot to stay focused and not get carried away. I could concentrate on my work better. I have no grievances against that.
How many movie reviews did you read after your film released and what do you have to say about them? I read four reviews, two were good and two were okay. I am happy say that till date I have not come across anybody who hated the film or my character. I feel reviews are just opinions and the people who do the review have nothing against anybody, they are just doing their job. Films are films, they are just to entertain and not mixed-up
"Choosing co-stars is none of my business."
with logic. I think movies should be watched just for fun.
Who are your favorite actors? Who do you aspire to be? Shahrukh, Rani Mukerjee and Kajol are my favourite actors, but at the same time, I don’t aspire to be like them or follow their footsteps. Whatever I am capable of will come to me. I don’t have a success plan chalked-out. The best things happen to me when I least expect them.
What would you like your next film to be – a blockbuster with another top actor, college romance, comedy or an offbeat arty film? I have a three film contract with Yash Raj Films but I am allowed to do a film if Adi thinks it is a great script and will help my career. I am getting a few offers but I am not restricting my options to pick and choose the genre of films that I want to do next. I don’t want to limit my choices. The script should appeal to me irrespective of the banner and co-stars.
